Physical Education

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sport embraces teaching from Year 7 to Year 11, offering a wide range of sporting and physically recreational activities for learners both in lessons and in extra curricular activities.

At Key Stage 3 the Faculty offers learners a wide range of activities including rugby, football, netball, swimming, gymnastics, dance, basketball, cricket, rounders and athletics through the 3 school terms.

At key stage 4 these activities are complimented by badminton, dance and fitness training take take place in our fitness suites.learners have the option of selecting a number of sports related courses including GCSE Physical Education and BTEC Sport. The school also runs a BTEC outdoor and adventurous activity course where learners have the opportunity to gain National governing body awards in walking, canoeing and sailing.

Penydre can boast the best school sporting facilities in the valley with 1 rugby field 1 football field an Astro turf pitch, an 18m indoor swimming pool, 1 large sports hall, gymnastics hall, weights room and fitness suite. After the school day there are a number of sports clubs run including football (boys and girls team), rugby, netball, basketball, athletics, cricket and rounders accumulating over 200 fixtures through the school year. the school's clubs and fixtures programme is also supported by the 5x60 programme that has seen fitness club. girls swimming, table tennis and badminton become permanent events after the school day
