History
History is a study of the past. It is viewed as a subject that it is vital in providing learners with an awareness and understanding of significant people and events that has helped to shape the world they live in. It is hoped that the study of history in school will lead to a lifelong process of learning that does not end when the learners leave school.
Concepts which we explore in our key stage curriculum include governance, economy, power and protest, equality and inequality, justice, rights, conquest, trade, agriculture, industry, peace, conflict and cooperation and revolution. We aim to incorporate local and Welsh history into our curriculum to enable learners to understand the factors that have shaped their community and Wales today.
Our RICH assessments provide learners with the opportunity to be creative and to take responsibility for their own progression and learning. Pupils are encouraged to think critically and to reflect on different interpretations of historical evidence.
