The school welcomed the school inspection service Estyn for two visits this term. The first visit was to pilot the new inspection framework and to seek the views of school leaders and staff. This went very well and all parties found it of great benefit.
The second visit was a remit visit on the theme of Community Engagement. We are delighted to have been chosen as a school with best practice in community and parental engagement and we look forward to reading the published case study in due course. Let's not forget that Pen y Dre High School was the first school in Wales to win the Professional Teaching Awards Cymru in this category.
In December the Headteacher also joined an inspection team to inspect a secondary school in another local authority. The role of a Peer Inspector is a valued role; it both complements an inspection team's experience and develops school leaders' understanding of the inspection framework.
