PenYDre High School is one of 31 schools and colleges in Wales who are participating in the award in 2006/2007. It will be available in all schools and colleges from 2007/2008. PenYDre High School is the only education institute in Merthyr Tydfil to offer this qualification. Baccalaureate qualifications are the future. It is part of the skills agenda for England and Wales. The baccalaureate system is well known in Europe (several countries have their own, France, Spain and Germany for example) and are well regarded.
